Eric Green, M.D., Ph.D., is the Director of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). For the past 25 years, Dr. Green has been at the forefront of efforts to map, sequence, and understand the human genome, including significant start-to-finish involvement in the Human Genome Project. He is responsible for providing overall leadership of NHGRI’s research portfolio and other initiatives. Most recently, he led NHGRI to the completion of a strategic planning process that yielded a new vision for the future of genomics research, with particular emphasis on clinical applications of genomics.
