From the Smithsonian Museums
Sam Vong is Curator of Asian Pacific American (APA) History in the Division of Work & Industry at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. His research and curatorial work aim to strengthen and build the museum's APA Collection and to showcase the diversity of peoples who fall under the APA rubric. In addition to amplifying the diverse voices of APA communities, Sam also writes on topics related to race and ethnicity, migration and diaspora, and refugee movements.
For Isabella Aiukli Cornell, a citizen of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, a prom dress was the perfect vehicle to express pride for her Native heritage and to signal her support of a growing political movement with which she has been deeply involved.
