From the Smithsonian Museums
Lucy Chang is a Peter Buck Deep Time Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Paleobiology at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History. She is fascinated by marine biodiversity and what we can learn about marine ecosystems through the fossil record. Her research has her modeling extinction risk and exploring the ecological and evolutionary dynamics of biological invasions in mollusks. She has also been involved in developing educational resources for both classroom and museum settings.
Scientists apply different methods to the geologic record with the goal of better understanding and quantifying ancient Earth's temperatures.
