The DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center is one of the oldest institutions of its kind in the country. Our mission is to promote understanding and inspire appreciation of the achievements, contributions and experiences of African Americans through exhibits, programs and activities that illustrate African and African American history, culture and art.

Clearing A Path for Democracy: Citizen Soldiers of the Fighting Eighth in World War I
With a focus on World War 1, the exhibition covers the history of the 8th Infantry Illinois National Guard , known as the only regiment in American history to deploy overseas under the command of African American officers.
