Smithsonian Affiliate Museum

The International Museum of the Horse is committed to educating the general public, equestrian, and academic communities about the relationship between humans and the horse throughout history and the world. IMH is the largest and most comprehensive museum in the world dedicated to exploring the important history of all horses and their impact on human civilization. Through its ever-growing library and archives, it also serves as a resource for scholars and researchers throughout the world.

Exhibits

Current exhibits include Legacy of the Horse, Affirmed: The Making of a Champion, AL-Marah Arabian Horse Galleries, Black Horsemen of the Kentucky Turf, Calumet Farm: Five Decades of Champions, and the National Horse Show. Our seasonal exhibit is May Day Maddness: Derby Eve with the Maddens of Hamburg Place.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
