The Montgomery County Historical Society is housed in Lane Place, the home of Senator Henry S. Lane and his wife, Joanna. The Lane's built the home in 1845 and 95 percent of the artifacts in the home belonged to their family. The home is a part of the Historic Elston Grove area in Crawfordsville, IN. Henry S. Lane was one of the founders of the Republican party, a friend and supporter of Abraham Lincoln and a pillar of Montgomery County's community. Visit us to see excellent examples of Victorian life and mementos from Lane's time working with Lincoln.
