As the area's largest and most comprehensive history museum, this Smithsonian Affiliate provides a unique, interactive experience that connects the Upstate's rich 300-year story of frontier beginnings and Textile Capital of the World heydays to transformative events after World War II, the Civil Rights Movement, and economic revivals.
With award-winning in-house collections and national, one-of-a-kind traveling exhibitions, UHM is the perfect place to explore just what makes Greenville so special. The featured traveling exhibitions that will be on display during Museum Day 2022 includes: "Dinosaurs: Land of Fire and Ice," "FAST LANE: The NASCAR Photography of Darryl Moran," and "AMECO: Upstate Roots, Global."
Exhibits
Step into the larger-than-life pages of six of the world's most famous fairy tales with the bilingual childrens exhibit, "Once Upon a Time: Exploring the World of Fairy Tales." Guests can also explore the three-dimensional, hand-stitched tableaus from artist Salley Mavor in "Salley Mavor: Social Fabric" and examine the rapidly changing medium of photography from the 1880s through the 1980s with the exhibition, "Masters of American Photography."
