See Every Plane Criss-Crossing Europe in This Weirdly Beautiful Video of Flight Paths
An air traffic control company created this incredible video showing flight patterns around Europe
Air traffic patterns are usually invisible to people on the ground, but the U.K.’s NATS, an air traffic control company, came up with a way to let people see what’s going on in the skies above our heads. By piecing together radar data and flight plan information from two days in summer, the group created this visualization of flight paths over Europe.
Probably because the company is based in the U.K., the video focuses a lot on the air traffic in that particular country, showing holding patterns around London and even military patterns of the Welsh island of Anglesey. According to NATS' blog, there are usually around 30,000 flights through European airspace on a normal July day.
